Spring is finally here. This season, were nature wakes up from a long rest, is the best to bring awareness to our own roots with a grounding yoga practice.

This week’s yoga class is in honour of Earth Day – which is celebrated on April 22.

The theme for Earth Day 2021 is Restore Our Earth

Let’s celebrate the earth and get grounded with this yoga practice and meditation focusing on the root chakra.

The Root Chakra or Muladhara chakra in Sanskrit is located at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor; on the perineum; first three vertebrae of the spine. Associated to the colour red, it represents security, survival, safety, being grounded, stability, prosperity, basic trust and material wealth. The Muladhara chakra is portrayed as 4 red petals with a gold circle, a yellow square and a gold triangle.

The root chakra mantra is LAM and the element is Earth.

Happy Earth Day!

How to connect to our Root Chakra?

  • Sit on the grass and\or under a tree;
  • By going outdoors;
  • Immerse yourself in the sounds and smells of nature;
  • Allow yourself to absorb these earthly energies.
